Advancing Knowledge
for Europe and Beyond

UP University offers researchers access to a vibrant European research ecosystem that strengthens academic excellence and expands opportunities for collaboration and growth. At the same time, our alliance contributes to improving society by advancing knowledge with real-world relevance.

We believe that true impact happens when research connects with people. By bringing together research universities and universities of applied sciences, UP University bridges fundamental research and practical application through co-creation, open science and accessible communication that strengthen public trust. In doing so, the alliance generates and applies knowledge that enables organisations and regions to make informed, future-oriented decisions—advancing wellbeing (SDG 3), protecting the planet and fostering sustainable prosperity (SDGs 11– 12).

Within this collaborative European framework, researchers benefit from joint projects, co-authorship and mobility opportunities, enriched doctoral training and stronger positioning for competitive European funding. By working across institutions and disciplines, they expand their networks, increase the visibility of their work and amplify both scientific excellence and long-term societal impact.

What we offer

UP University offers a collaborative, co-creative approach to developing and implementing solutions that address real-world problems. Within this European framework, researchers work across institutions and disciplines to build strong partnerships, design competitive project proposals and transform ideas into sustainable research initiatives.

Testimonials

“Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with our UP partner UVic-UCC. In 2024, we visited them to explore shared research interests in health and care, as well as business and management, and they visited us in return in 2025. These exchanges quickly evolved into concrete collaboration: together, we developed and submitted the Erasmus+ projects MIND-EU and HABIT, the latter of which was successfully granted and is now up and running. It has been a rewarding milestone and has further strengthened our partnership between UVic-UCC and Artevelde UAS.”

Tim Bomberna, SPOC International Research at AUAS

“When a HORIZON call on gender differences in parents’ career trajectories was launched, we reached out through the UP network to see who might be interested. UVic-UCC and Artevelde UAS quickly connected, building on our complementary expertise to develop a concept note. The Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale (UPO) joined the project shortly after. Being part of the UP University alliance made it possible to establish a strong and competitive consortium.”
